Men of Justice

Equipping men to defend the oppressed

Why Men of Justice?

The Men of Justice is a faith based initiative was created to help empower man to get back on the front lines of defending the oppressed in our communities. As a counter Trafficking agency, we need men on the front lines to help protect those who are being abused and set the standard for families and the community at large. We do this in several ways. Firstly, we help men get free from sexual addiction and address issues of sexually morality. Helping ensure men have clean hands in a pure heart is vital before they take up the fight. then we help Man find their place of service or there it is security teams, transport teams, joining the Safe House support network or purely rallying other men to pray all of these are vital for our agency. Once men are connected with us, we ensure ongoing communication and accountability to make sure those were in the fight can remain in the fight and serve those who are less in our communities.

The Data

Since Barna’s 2015 study The Porn Phenomenon, the number of U.S. adults consuming pornography has continued to rise, with a 6-percentage point increase (from 55% in 2015 to 61% presently). There is also a notable uptick in the number of women accessing pornographic content (39% then vs. 44% now).

Despite its widespread nature, the vast majority of porn users (84%) say no one is helping them avoid pornography, and half say no one knows about their habit.

Just over half of practicing Christians report consuming porn with some level of frequency, including 22 percent who view it weekly (15%) or daily (7%). Though numbers climb among nonpracticing Christians and non-Christians, the reality is that a slight majority of all Christians has some sort of history of engaging with pornographic material.

Just 10 percent of U.S. Christians and churched adults say their church offers programming to help those struggling with pornography. Meanwhile, over half (58%) say it’s important to them that their church is addressing topics like pornography.

Though the Church hasn’t always gotten it right in its response to matters surrounding pornography and sexuality, today can mark the start of a new path forward. Churches have a unique opportunity to address this issue and offer hope and healing to those struggling with porn use, as well as those affected by another’s porn use.

The Scripture

Scriptures on Sexual Purity and Immorality

“Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God.”

“Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.”

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

“Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

“But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.”

“Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”

“He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself.”

“But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.”

“Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.”

“For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”

“He is not greater in this house than I am, nor has he kept back anything from me except you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?”

“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.”

“Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.”

“I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I gaze at a virgin?”

“But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Your Place in the Fight

We believe there is a place for (almost) everyone in this fight. The need is so significant, and the darkness is continuing to encroach on so many in our families, churches and communities. If every man was to do something, however, small, in this fight, we would see an end to sex trafficking and sexual exploitation, we would see porn, use diminish and dry up and we would see so many lives restored, and broken people healed.

Engage Your Church

It’s a firm belief that the church is supposed to be the tip of the spear in the fight against Trafficking. And we also believe that men are to lead that charge, not only because it is our duty to defend our families and the week around us, but men are also, the leading cause of this problem from sexual addiction to pornography consumption, the majority of the blame in this position in which we find ourselves falls, squarely at the feet of men. Encouraging your church to pray and have opportunities for men to seek out counseling and assistance for sexual addiction and pornography usage is vital if the church is ever going to be the spotless bride and the warrior with clean hands on the front lines.
