Legislative Advocacy

Fighting trafficking means changing the systems that allow it to thrive. That’s why The Lantern Project actively works at the state level to shape policies that protect the vulnerable and hold perpetrators accountable.

We regularly engage with lawmakers, policy leaders, and partner organizations in Raleigh to:

Advocate for stronger anti-trafficking legislation and survivor protections
Provide expert testimony and survivor-informed insight to legislative committees
Serve as a trusted resource for elected officials on trafficking trends and needs
Collaborate with coalitions and advocacy groups to ensure comprehensive reform
Support the passage of laws that increase prevention, improve victim services, and close legal loopholes exploited by traffickers
Advocating for increased funding for survivor services, state responses and safe housing

By influencing policy, we aim to create a legal landscape in North Carolina that reflects justice, compassion, and vigilance.
