The Lantern Outreach

Outreach Opportunity

The Coca Cola 600 will be taking place on Sunday, May 28th, 2023 at 6:00PM at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC. It is well known that recruiters attend these large-scale events seeking those they can exploit – we want to stop that. We would love for you to join The Lantern Project on race day as we will distribute bags with wristbands to the public containing vital information about staying safe, recognizing the signs and helping victims of human trafficking. This will also help us to raise awareness about our work to our local community. It’s a great, low risk way to get involved, to spread the word, and to make a difference!

How can I get involved?

We are partnering with FIRE church, and will be using their location as a base to prep, and also to park and pack the bags. Our plan is to prep the bags (stuffing bracelets and info cards) from about 12:00pm-1:30pm. Once the bags have been prepped, we will have a brief meeting and then walk over to the speedway to begin distribution. We expect to be outside the speedway from about 2:00-5:00PM, or until we run out of supplies to hand out.

FAQs

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes that you can walk in. We expect it to be a warm day, so feel free to bring any water or snacks. We will not be going inside the Speedway, so there shouldn't be any restrictions on what type of bag you bring-- just plan to carry whatever you wish to bring for the duration of the event. We'll give you a tote if you need one for the bracelets and feel free to bring an umbrella just in case.

Yes! Feel free to bring anyone you want!

No, this is a simple way to spread the word. We'll just be handing out the wristbands and everyone loves free stuff!

You can stay as long as you want! Most people will plan to be there an hour or two.

Where do we
meet?

Fire Church

We’ll plan to meet at Fire Church around noon. You can park your car at their location for the duration of the outreach.
